FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions. Learn more about Dot® Cleaner.

  • Dot Cleaner products are not registered pesticides or antimicrobials and are expressly designed for cleaning and mold stain removal. There are many disinfection products available to the restoration and remediation industry, but none of these are designed specifically for the important job of cleaning and stain removal. The primary job of any remediation project after moisture sources are identified and corrected is to physically remove moldy materials and/or mold from surfaces and to present the area clean for homeowners, IEP’s, or others. Dot products are powerful, patented, low-chemical cleaning products specifically designed for removing mold staining.

  • No. Dilute Oxidation Technology reduces the chemical loading per gallon of applied product. This is possible because of the powerful NT7 catalyst in the formula, which supercharges the oxidation reaction.

  • Once both sides of the Dot packet are mixed together in water, Dot Mold Stain Remover delivers peak performance for 2 to 3 hours. With our patented Activator Tablets, the mixed solution can be activated again for as many times as needed. This ensures the product works for as long as you want it to. Once applied, Dot continues to oxidize mold staining until the surface is dry, often continuing its work for up to 24 hours.

  • Once both sides of the Dot packet are mixed together in water, Dot Surface Cleaner delivers peak performance for 1 to 2 hours. With our patented Activator Tablets, the mixed solution can be activated again for as many times as needed. This ensures the product works for as long as you want it to. Once applied, Dot continues to oxidize mold staining until the surface is dry, often continuing its work for up to 24 hours.

  • You should follow OSHA and other legal requirements when considering what PPE to use. Appropriate PPE should be worn when using Dot.

  • We strongly recommend that you do not use a partial package of Dot because the proportion of the formulation is important to maintain. Dot contains a revolutionary new molecule called NT7 and it is a small portion of the total volume of the Dot formulation. To ensure that the appropriate amount of NT7 is available for increased performance, it is important to use the entire package of Dot when mixing. Having various packet sizes on hand (i.e. 1-gallon and 1 quart) should allow for the mixing volume options and use of only enough product to do the immediate job. Once a packet is opened, exposure to air and moisture could also reduce the effectiveness of the product if left unused.

  • Dispose of contents as hazardous waste. Do not place in trash or down the drain. To minimize disposal of unused product, consider using Dot’s Activator Tablets to “reactivate” the solution.

  • No, any water can be used. However, we recommend using hot or warm water as it provides numerous benefits when mixing and applying Dot. Hot water will increase product penetration and effectiveness as well as decrease mixing time.

  • If accessing water is an issue on site, Side A (Oxidizer) of a standard Dot pouch may be mixed in the shop prior to transport. The Activator (Side B) should then be added to the mixture immediately before beginning the job.

  • All Dot Cleaner products are powered by our patented Activator. Our cleaning product pouches are split into two sides: Side A contains an Oxidizer, and Side B contains our patented NT7® Activator. When these components are properly mixed, Dilute Oxidation Technology® is engaged, resulting in powerful cleaning with dramatically less chemical.

Dot Activator Tablets are new dissolvable tablets that contain only the “Side B” Activator formula. Activator Tablets give professional remediators more control over Dot’s peak performance time while on the job site.

Mixed product can sit past peak performance time for a number of reasons. Sometimes workers need to take a break for lunch or a job simply runs long. You can extend the life of any Dot solution remaining after peak performance with Activator Tablets to seamlessly continue your job. Simply insert the appropriate quantity of tablets, shake or stir, and continue spraying!
